Sydney Desalination Plant is a declared a monopoly under the Water Industry Competition Act. Prices from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2017 were determined in December 2011. In February, amended terms of reference were issued by the Minister to allow adjustments to prices after 2017 for efficiency and surplus energy.
The Draft Discussion Paper sets out a methodology to adjust Sydney Desalination Plant (SDP) prices from 1 July 2017 to take account of efficiency gains and surplus energy gains and losses.
