In the course of this review IPART has been presented with information by stakeholders about opportunities for future cost efficiencies by Sydney Desalination Plant Pty Ltd.
While they have not been able to qualify the potential savings, we have received advice from the National Centre of Excellence in Desalination and in a submission from Degremont Ltd that suggested that there are significant opportunities for SDP to reduce its costs. To encourage SDP to realise these opportunities, Degremont Ltd suggests that IPART should consider the implementation of and efficiency carryover mechanism.
