The NSW Government has engaged IPART to develop a framework for evaluating its drought programs. The framework will allow for a consistent assessment of whether these programs are effective, efficient, equitable and complement Commonwealth drought programs. In particular, it will consider whether the programs maintain incentives to invest in drought preparedness measures.
We will also make recommendations about what data needs to be collected to inform the evaluation.
We released a Discussion Paper on 30 October 2015, outlining our draft framework and issues for consultation (available on the IPART website). Submissions are due by 1 December 2015.
We will also hold a public roundtable on 24 November 2015 to give stakeholders an opportunity to provide their input on the framework in person. This roundtable will be webcast to allow people to remotely participate.
