IPART held a public hearing on 14 November 2024 on WAMC and WaterNSW’s proposed water prices from 1 July 2025.

We received pricing proposals on30 September and published our Issues Paper on 1 November, along with the pricing proposals.

OnThursday 14 November 2024, we held an online public hearing as part of our consultation for the two water price reviews. The public hearing provided an opportunity for customers and the community to have their say and ask questions to IPART and to the water businesses.

The online public hearing had two sessions:

  • Session 1 for General Discussion about WAMCs proposed water prices with presentations from WAMC and from the IPART Secretariat.
  • Session 2 or General Discussion about WaterNSW’s proposed water prices with presentations from WaterNSW and from the IPART Secretariat.

There were 102 people from the public that attended this hearing. Each session included presentations as well as question and comment sessions where customers and the community could ask questions to the water business and to IPART on key issues. Key themes centred around costs, prices and impacts, and the customer engagement process involved in the pricing proposals. Participants also raised issues including environmental impacts, regulatory compliance, organisational efficiency, and the impactor-pays model.

We have also published below, responses from IPART to questions and comments that we recorded from our chat box but were not able to cover during the hearing.

We have listened to the community’s views and will consider all feedback and comments when we make our draft decisions and recommendations for our Draft Report, to be released in March 2025.
