The Chair of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal, Carmel Donnelly PSM has announced that Tribunal member Deborah Cope will retire later this year.
“Deborah has been a member of the Tribunal since early 2017 and I would like to thank her for her service to NSW as a Tribunal member and pay tribute to her significant contribution,” said Ms Donnelly.
Deborah’s expertise and experience have been extremely valuable to IPART. She brought to her work at IPART more than 35 years’ experience in Australian public policy and management, including experience as a Commissioner with the Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission.
Deborah has made an important contribution to the impact of IPART on outcomes for the people of NSW in a wide range of reviews and decisions, including reform of the way IPART regulates water businesses and IPART’s approach to considering climate change in our work.
She has also acted as Tribunal Chairperson on many occasions and has been pivotal in ensuring continuity in the high quality of decision-making by the Tribunal as Acting Chair.
Deborah will remain as a Tribunal member until October 2023, while recruitment for a new permanent member is underway.
While we will miss Deborah when she retires from IPART, we will also wish her well for a wonderful and well-deserved retirement.
