IPART has completed our review of the Sydney Water Corporation Operating Licence 2015-2020.
We presented our recommended licence package to the Minister for Water, Property and Housing and the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces. The package includes our final report to the Minister, recommended licence including the Customer Contract, and a reporting manual.
We reviewed the existing licence to ensure the amended licence going forward fulfills its objectives and effectively addresses issues that arose during the term of the existing licence.
We conducted a public consultation process and applied our Best Practice Licensing Framework for this review. More information about our approach to the review is provided in our final report to the Minister.
We commenced our review in June 2018, and we submitted our recommended licence package to the Ministers in April 2019.
The Minister for Water, Property and Housing has considered our recommendations and tabled the proposed Sydney Water Operating Licence 2019-2023 in the NSW Parliament. The Governor has approved the amended licence and the licence will take effect from 30 November 2019.
The draft operating licence outlines the proposed terms and conditions that we may recommend to the Minister to be included in the Sydney Water’s new operating licence.
