IPART is undertaking a 5-year review of Hunter Water’s operating licence. We have released an Issues Paper as the first step of the review process. It outlines the current licence requirements, the licence review process, identifies key issues and provides some questions for stakeholder to respond. Key issues are presented in the areas of water quality, water quantity, assets and infrastructure, customers and consumers, environment, quality, performance monitoring, and memoranda of understanding. It also includes discussion on other emerging issues such as competition in the water market, synergies between the operating licence and price regulation, and water availability for fire-fighting.
