IPART makes recommendations on maximum taxi fares to Transport for NSW each year. Our recommendations are based on the annual changes in costs measured by Taxi Cost Indices (TCIs). In 2012 we are reviewing the cost items and weightings in the TCIs before making our recommendations.
This draft report sets out our draft decisions taking into account an industry wide survey of costs undertaken for IPART by the Centre for International Economics (CIE). The report includes indicative fare changes of 3.2% for urban taxis and 3.4% for country taxis from July 2012, based on information currently available. After considering submissions on this report and updating the information on some of the costs included, we will make final recommendations in June.
