This media release announces the release of IPART’s Final Report on its Review of the method for determining rents for domestic waterfront tenancies in NSW. Under domestic waterfront tenancies, or 'occupancies', owners of waterfront residential properties pay rent to the NSW Government to occupy and use publicly-owned submerged or reclaimed land, which is usually adjacent to their property. Renters often build and use private jetties, pontoons, recreation areas, boatsheds, swimming pools and slipways on this publicly owned land. IPART's recommendations seek to set rents that provide a reasonable return to Government for the private use of public land, while also being fair to tenants
