IPART is currently reviewing the maximum fees for accident-related towing services for light and heavy vehicles in NSW (including accident towing, salvage, storage, subsequent towing). We are also reviewing other licence conditions for tow truck operators and drivers (operators licences, drivers certificates and towing authorisation forms) to reduce ‘red tape’ for operators while still protecting consumers.

We have released an Issues Paper for the review. This paper is the first step in our consultation process and sets out the key issues on which we are seeking stakeholder input. We invite all interested parties to make submissions in response to the issues paper. The paper contains a series of specific questions to help inform our review. People can respond to any or all of the questions or make other comments that they think we should hear. We ask that stakeholders make submissions by 30 June 2014.

We are keen to hear from tow truck operators and drivers on the challenges they face. We are collecting information from operators and drivers to help us understand the costs they incur and identify areas for improvement with the licence conditions, via an Operator/Driver Questionnaire.

We would also like to hear from consumers who have used tow truck services in the past 12 months. You can have your say in the Consumer Questionnaire.
