In 2008 IPART conducted a survey of residential water, electricity and gas consumers in the Gosford City Council area, Wyong Shire Council area and the area served by Hunter Water Corporation. This is the fifth survey of household energy and water consumption undertaken by IPART and the first undertaken in Gosford and Wyong. IPART’s main aim in conducting the 2008 survey was to collect information on the characteristics of households and their energy and water use that will help it to (1) assess the impact of its energy and water pricing decisions on different households and community groups, particularly low-income households (2) assess the extent of participation in the retail energy market, and households’ experience of competition in this market, and (3) investigate the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the Central Coast area, in line with the commitment it made in its 2006 report on water prices in Gosford and Wyong. The results are contained in a report released on 19 December 2008 (Research Paper 30). Data tables with detailed survey results are available in Excel format on IPART’s website.
