The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) is responsible for setting the rate peg each year. For 2013/14, we have set the rate peg at 3.4%. The rate peg determines the maximum allowable percentage increase in general income for most local councils in NSW. General income mainly includes income from council rates. It excludes council income from water, sewerage and waste charges.
