The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal is playing an important role in the development of access regimes for gas and electricity. To assist with implementation of the regime in August, the Tribunal released network charges determined by the electricity distributors on the basis of the Tribunal’s overall determination of network revenues. More recently the Tribunal released its draft
determination on AGL’s proposed undertaking to provide access to the gas distribution system. Together with the Gas Supply Act and the accompanying Code, this sets out the terms (including reference prices) and conditions for use of the gas distribution system by customers and competing retail suppliers.
